Wembley warns fans without tickets for Eras Tour

Taylor Swift fans who don’t have tickets to her upcoming London shows have been warned they won’t be able to stand outside Wembley Stadium to soak up the atmosphere.

It has become a trend for eager Swifties to gather wherever she is playing, even if they can’t make it to the show – a practice known as “Tay-gating.”

Last month, an estimated 40,000 people in Munich flocked to a nearby hill to catch a glimpse of the star in action.

But after a Security threat led to cancellation From their three concerts in Vienna last week, Wembley Stadium has banned this practice for their remaining dates in the UK.

“In order to ensure the safe entry and exit of all persons in the stadium, no one is permitted to stand in front of any of the entrances or on the Olympic steps in front of the stadium,” Read an update on the venue’s website.

“Non-ticket holders will be redirected.”

Security measures at Wembley Stadium had already been tightened following the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017, and strict security measures remain in place for the Eras tour.

Fans are only allowed to bring one A4-sized bag. Prohibited items include banners, umbrellas, glass or metal containers, iPads, laptops, aerosol sprays (including sunscreen) and signs larger than a sheet of A4 paper.

Swift will play five nights at Wembley starting Thursday 15 August.

Combined with the three dates she already played in July, Swift will equal the record set by Take That, who performed eight dates at the venue as part of their 2011 Progress tour.

Swift will also surpass Michael Jackson to become the solo artist with the most performances at Wembley during a single tour. The King of Pop performed seven concerts at the stadium during his 1988 Bad Tour.

The star’s Eras Tour is a global phenomenon, expected to gross more than $2 billion (£1.5 billion) in ticket sales by the time it ends in Canada in December this year.

The singer plays hits from her 18-year career in a setlist that spans more than three hours.

She had performed more than 100 times before her appearances in Vienna were cancelled last week.

The Austrian authorities said they had foiled the plan of a supporter of the terrorist militia “Islamic State” to carry out a suicide attack.

Fans had feared that the London dates could be affected by the events in Austria, but the Metropolitan Police said there was “no indication” of a further threat.

A spokesman said police had “worked closely with venue security teams and other partners to ensure appropriate security and policing plans are in place.”

They added: “As always, we will carefully review any new information.”

Earlier start times were also given on Wembley’s official website for the upcoming Eras shows after Swift added new opening acts for each date.

In addition to Paramore, who will perform each night, the star has invited Sofia Isella, Holly Humberstone, Suki Waterhouse, Maisie Peters and Raye to join her for one evening each.

Admission times are daily between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., and performances begin either at 4:55 p.m. or 5:10 p.m., depending on the date.
