Halsey thanks Alanis Morissette for helping her write the “best f*** you” songs

Halsey thanked Alanis Morissette for helping her write the “best f*** you” songs.
The 28-year-old paid tribute to her 48-year-old fellow singer during her performance at the “We Can Survive” concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Saturday evening (22.10.22).
She said of Alanis: “She taught me my whole life how to write the best ‘F*** You’ songs of all time.”
“I think without their ‘F*** You’ songs I probably wouldn’t have written the biggest song of my career so far.”
Halsey described her 2018 song “Without Me” – whose lyrics read, “You know I’m the one that put you up there / Name in the sky / Does it ever get lonely?” – as “very Alanis-like.”
The song was released following Halsey’s split from G-Eazy, who she dated for over a year before the two split in 2018 amid rumors that the 33-year-old rapper had been unfaithful.
Halsey and Alanis performed Halsey’s “Alanis’ Interlude” from her 2020 album “Manic” on Saturday night during Alanis’ headlining set, which included her hits “Ironic,” “You Oughta Know” and “Thank U.”
The ninth annual We Can Survive event was hosted by Audacy in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to celebrate the power of music to bring people together to support mental health and raise awareness for suicide prevention.
The evening also featured performances by Weezer, One Republic, Garbage and Tate McRae.
Garbage singer Shirley Manson told Page Six: “We’ve written a lot of songs about this… we talk about things that people don’t normally really want to talk about.”
“I think that’s one of the reasons we’ve had such a long career. I think that’s created a really deep connection to a fan base and a culture in a funny way. And honestly, it’s a privilege to speak for those who don’t have the kind of platform that we have.”
