Ryan Reynolds is accused of writing the scene for “It Ends With Us” during a strike

He is branded as a “strikebreaker” on the Internet

In the latest installment of the seemingly never-ending It Ends With Us drama, Ryan Reynolds is currently facing harsh criticism on TikTok and being accused of being a “scab” after people theorized that he wrote a scene in the film during the screenwriters’ strike. Since the film came out on Friday, it has been reported that Ryan Reynolds (husband of the film’s star Blake Lively) wrote the film’s famous rooftop scene. This alone was controversial, but now even more rumors are circulating that Ryan Reynolds wrote the scene for It Ends With Us in the middle of the screenwriters’ strike.

It turns out that the infamous roof scene in It Ends With Us was actually written by Ryan Reynolds and the film’s original screenwriter apparently had absolutely no clue. As if that wasn’t brutal enough, the screenwriter revealed in an interview that she actually assumed the scene was improvised based on the script.

TikToker SaronThings explained her theory why she believes Ryan Reynolds might be a “scab” because he may have written the scene from “It Ends With Us” during the writers’ strike. Scabs are people who break the picket line of a protest and go back to work instead of joining the strikers.

“Christy Hall, who wrote the screenplay for It Ends With Us, said she turned in her script before the writers’ strike. Then she returned to production to provide feedback during the editing process. She noticed differences in some of the dialogue that she thought was simply improvisation. It wasn’t until the premiere on August 6 that she found out, along with everyone else, that Ryan had written that dialogue.

“I need to know when that editing process happened because if it happened during or right after the writers’ strike, that means it was written during the writers’ strike. To find out on the red carpet with everyone else that he actually wrote those parts, possibly during the writers’ strike – that’s like scab breaking.”

Blake Lively first revealed her involvement in the rooftop scene from It Ends With Us with Ryan Reynolds in an interview with E! News. She revealed: “The iconic rooftop scene was actually written by my husband. Nobody knows that except you now.”

Christy Hall explained that the rooftop scene was “probably the hardest” because it was “perfect in the novel.” Okay, sure. She told People, “My first attempt at that scene, I really tried to honor Colleen’s lines almost word for word. I really, really tried because I just think she did it the best. The hard thing about that scene is that it’s so long.”

“I’m very proud of my work and I feel like the beats that needed to be honored in that scene have been preserved and are there. Again, Colleen did it best. She did it first and it’s hers. I think that scene is a really beautiful reflection of what she wrote from the beginning.”
