PTM Partners and DoveHill open Moxy St. Pete

PTM Partners and DoveHill have opened the doors to Moxy St. Pete, the first lifestyle hotel and rooftop restaurant in St. Petersburg’s most vibrant neighborhood.

PTM Partners and DoveHill are proud to announce the opening of Moxy St. Pete, led by Wurzak Hotel Group. Located on Central Avenue, one of Florida’s busiest streets, the newly constructed property is downtown St. Petersburg’s first lifestyle hotel. Meticulously designed by Storyn Studio for Architecture, the hotel features 163 guest rooms and suites, the Edge District’s first rooftop pool deck, a poolside bar and a dynamic lobby featuring Rose’s Coffee Bar, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a large lobby bar that opens to the street, a podcast studio, meeting rooms and workspaces. In addition, the hotel will open the new branch of Sparrow in the fall, marking the newest destination for a Florida-popular rooftop restaurant and nightlife destination.

Located in the new EDGE Collective mixed-use complex near Tropicana Field on St. Pete’s vibrant Central Avenue, Moxy St. Pete blends into the hustle and bustle of this pedestrian-friendly neighborhood filled with shops, restaurants and nightlife.

Upon entering the hotel, guests enter a lobby inspired by the unique charm of downtown St. Petersburg, known for its mural-lined streets, creative vibe and beautiful waterfront. The bright and playful lobby features mid-century modern design with relaxed Florida beach decor. Capturing classic St. Pete charm, the check-in desk is highlighted by a vibrant mural featuring a collage of botanical flora and fauna by Tampa artist Ashley Cassens and a sculptural art mirror by St. Pete artist Ted VanCleave.

The lobby also offers numerous spaces to work and relax, including eye-catching furniture and comfortable seating areas, as well as an indoor stage area for local live music and entertainment. Bar Moxy, the hotel’s indoor and outdoor lobby bar, offers specialty cocktails, beer, wine and bottled water, as well as a selection of refreshing non-alcoholic beverages – the perfect way to kick off a hotel stay or enjoy a drink before heading out to Central Avenue for dinner. At Bar Moxy, guests can also enjoy classic salads, flatbreads, fresh sushi rolls, including the Central Ave Crunch, and an array of grab-and-go options, from the Lobster Roll and Tuna Poke Fish Tacos to the signature Moxy Grass-Fed Beef Burger.

Continuing through the lobby is Rose’s Coffee Bar, an upscale cafe serving espresso drinks, cold brew, nitro brew and drip coffee. Rose’s also offers a variety of pastries, toasties, smoothies and other light snacks. This location is the second Rose’s Coffee Bar, joining the first location in Fort Lauderdale.

Other hotel offerings include a lobby podcast studio that the public can rent for free and 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space adorned with a unique poolside mural that plays with the viewer’s depth perception by Miami-based artist duo Allison Matherly and Jeffrey Noble. The hotel’s meeting room also features shuffleboard floors as a tribute to the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, the oldest and largest in the world. The sixth floor is home to the hotel’s 24-hour fitness center, equipped with a punching bag, gymnastics equipment, Peloton bikes and a circuit training machine.

The hotel’s inviting guest rooms offer a cozy retreat with plush bedding and refreshing rain showers. Each room is bathed in calming natural light through large floor-to-ceiling windows, and select rooms feature balconies overlooking the bustle of Central Avenue. Set amidst a calming neutral color palette with natural wood tones, rooms are decorated with vibrant artwork and furnishings that give them a distinct personality. These tech-forward rooms also feature spacious bathrooms and are complemented by thoughtful amenities and a minimalist, streamlined design.

Moxy St. Pete is home to the neighborhood’s first rooftop pool. On the 7th floor, guests are greeted by a pool with colorful cabanas and Sip ‘n Dip, an open-air bar where one can enjoy refreshing cocktails and poolside favorites like fresh fruit platters, chips and guacamole and chicken tenders, as well as upscale offerings like the fresh Seafood Tower with citrus shrimp, oysters, tuna poke, lobster and black pepper mignonette. Miami-based artist Douglas Hoekzema, known as Hoxxoh, designed the striking and complex geometric mural on the rooftop with views of the surrounding area.

Also on the rooftop and scheduled for this fall, the highly anticipated Sparrow will offer unobstructed views of the city as the area’s first rooftop bar and lounge. Inspired by the clean lines and natural materials of 1950s and 1960s American modernism, the 4,000-square-foot space will serve as an entertaining retreat. During the day, Sparrow offers a cozy place to grab a bite to eat and soak up the St. Pete sunshine or relax under the shade of beautiful trees and rooftop gardens. Come nightfall, Sparrow becomes the city’s premier nightspot with Asian-inspired cuisine, craft cocktails and elegant décor. Guests will be able to enjoy panoramic views from every corner, including the main indoor bar, lounge, restaurant and outdoor bar.

Overall, Storyn Studio’s design for Moxy St. Pete honors the city’s architectural heritage with a new building that harmoniously complements its surroundings. The hotel’s brick facade is thoughtfully recessed to make room for the lush tree canopy and pedestrian activity along bustling Central Avenue. Storyn’s approach combines contemporary design with an understanding of human interaction between spaces. The paseo and courtyards between the new hotel and the remodeled building at 1246 Central Avenue provide a quiet retreat, convenient shortcut, or access to lively activities on the ground floor.

The hotel is a core component of the EDGE Collective, a new 46,000-square-foot multi-use destination. Phase I will see the completion of the Moxy St. Pete and the redeveloped and modernized 1246 Central Avenue building, which includes 15,000 square feet of Class A office space and the recently announced and popular Bosphorous Turkish restaurant on the ground floor. The Moxy building will also house highly anticipated tenants (Solidcore) and Floyd’s Barbershop.

Phase II will construct a 200-foot high-rise tower with approximately 350 luxury multifamily homes in the neighborhood, with hospitality-level amenities, 45,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, and 360 parking spaces. The affordable rental apartments include studio to three-bedroom apartments in two different buildings on Central Avenue, 1st Avenue South and 11th Street.
