Man stabbed to death after telling Dominican Day revelers not to jump on his car

NEW YORK, NY— A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 65-year-old man during the Dominican Day Parade in Midtown. The incident occurred after the younger man jumped on the victim’s car, leading to an altercation. Joshua Canero is charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest.

The altercation began around 2:35 p.m. on Sunday when Canero, who was participating in the parade along Sixth Avenue, jumped on the vehicle near 45th Street and Eighth Avenue, sparking an argument with the vehicle’s owner.

Canero is said to have attacked the elderly driver with a knife during the heated exchange, causing injuries to the man’s face, left ear and right hand.

The injured man was immediately taken to Mount Sinai West, where he was reportedly in stable condition following the attack.

  • Cory Booker’s intern runs for office in Toms River

Toms River, NJ – Toms River Democrats have replaced Susan Payne Gato on the ballot for November’s Second District election with a much more progressive liberal candidate. The move came after Gato was viewed as too moderate by Democrats including former Mayor Maurice Hill, Terrance Turnbach and Laurie Hawryk, according to party insiders.

All three politicians are no longer in office after residents rebelled against their plans to transform downtown Toms River into a small town.

The announcement came days after Rodrick announced he had abandoned the team’s plan to build a massive high-rise apartment project downtown.

Zachary Dougherty, a former intern for U.S. Senator Cory Booker, was named as Gato’s successor, even though Gato won the party’s primary in June and Democrats, like Democrats nationally, ended Gato’s campaign after seeing Gato perform poorly in the polls compared to William Byrne.

He served as vice chairman and president of the New Jersey High School Democrats and served as a precinct recruiter for Governor Phil Murphy’s campaign.

  • The Maryland State Police Aviation Squad conducts multiple rescue missions

The Maryland State Police Aviation Command (MSPAC) was instrumental in three separate rescue missions in Maryland and West Virginia this past weekend involving a swimmer, a hiker and an ATV rider. These missions highlighted the versatility and important role of the MSPAC in emergency response operations.

On Saturday afternoon, Trooper 5 helicopter crew from Cumberland conducted a rescue mission at Audra State Park in Belington, West Virginia. They rescued a swimmer who sustained a head injury while diving. The individual was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia for medical treatment.

The next day, Trooper 3 from Frederick conducted a rescue of an injured hiker on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Garrett County, Maryland. Due to the severity of the injuries and the challenging terrain, an air rescue was deemed necessary. The hiker was flown by helicopter to Meritus Medical Center in Washington County.

Later Sunday evening, Trooper 5 was again called to rescue an ATV rider with a neck injury in Georges Creek Valley, Lonaconing, Maryland. The rider was lifted and taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

An essential service since its inception in 1970, MSPAC operates a fleet of 10 AW139 helicopters from seven bases across the state. Their missions include medical evacuation, law enforcement, search and rescue, homeland security and disaster assessment, often in coordination with local and federal agencies.
