STORY: Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris have agreed to a debate. The show, which will air on ABC on September 10, will be the first direct meeting between the two rivals in a race that polls show is extremely close. On Thursday afternoon, Trump made his first public appearance since Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate:
Former President Donald Trump will give an interview to tech billionaire Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday evening.
Trump had previously hinted at the interview on his social media platform Truth Social, and Musk confirmed on Sunday that the interview will take place on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on the platform, which he owns.
This is not the first time X has hosted a major campaign event this election cycle: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched his brief 2023 presidential campaign in a Space with Musk that was marred by technical difficulties.

Will X be able to support the interview with Donald Trump and Elon Musk?
Musk has given no indication of what might be discussed in the interview, other than that it would be “unscripted and with no topic restrictions.” In a post on Sunday evening, he called for questions and comments.
The billionaire and X owner hopes to avoid any technical difficulties that might arise before the interview with Trump, posting on Sunday that he would be conducting “some tests tonight and tomorrow to scale the system.”
At one point on Sunday, Musk responded to another user’s post about the event, adding, “I hope it works,” with a crying, laughing and praying emoji. He also posted a 20-minute video of himself playing video games that night in a “streaming test,” alluding to the upcoming livestream interview with Trump.

Since taking over the social media platform, Musk has restored Trump’s account in 2022, which had been suspended in January 2021, in the final days of his term in office.
Although Trump typically prefers to post on his own social media platform, Truth Social, he returned to that platform on Monday. Trump’s first post in nearly a year before his conversation with Musk on Monday night was a 2:30 minute campaign video.
