It’s Wednesday night. You realize you forgot some ingredients for dinner, so you go to the supermarket. You look around the produce and bread aisles. Then you’re shocked to see that among all the pantry items there is also a vending machine with ammunition for guns.
These ammunition vending machines are currently in grocery stores in Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma, and more machines are planned for Colorado. Supermarkets in other states have also contacted the company and requested the deadly devices.
Research shows that as access to guns – or ammunition – increases, so do firearm homicide and suicide rates. In the first six months of 2024, there were already about 9,000 gun homicides, 17,000 gun injuries, and 284 mass shootings in the United States. These numbers do not even take into account the people who took their own lives with this deadly weapon.
