Akron woman missing for 20 years; mother dies without answers

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – It’s been two decades since Cecelia Najeway disappeared from her Akron home, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and a heartbroken family.

Najeway, 41, was last seen on Roslyn Avenue on July 1, 2004. Her mother told authorities at the time that Najeway suffered from depression and had run away several times but always returned home. This time, however, was different.

A recent investigation by 19 News revealed a tragic detail: Najeway’s mother Patricia died in 2022 at the age of 91 without knowing what had happened to her daughter.

In an obituary for Patricia, Cecelia was listed as a surviving family member.

Akron Police are still actively investigating Najeway’s disappearance.

She is described as 1.68 m tall, weighing 45 kg, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cecelia Najeway is asked to contact Akron Police at 330-375-2530.
