A sequel to Horror is in the works, Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively.

Frank FarelCo-writer and producer of the 1987 cult classic, announced the news during a live interview with The Barrens Hideout Podcast at the Dark Arts Festival in Lincoln, Rhode Island, this weekend.

“Remarkably (Horror) did so well when it was revived that I’m in the process of raising funding for a sequel,” revealed Farel. “I’m hoping to get some big name horror actors involved. I also want to make a film that’s almost an anti-sequel. I don’t want to just rehash what was done the first time.

“I don’t even want to make a typical sequel. I want to make something that’s its own beast. It’s different in a lot of ways. The way I’m doing it, it’s almost meant to be a mockery of what happened with our original film.”

Financiers took the film away from Farel and the directors Brendan Faulkner And Thomas Doran in post-production. Another filmmaker, Eugenie Josephwas hired to shoot new scenes that were incorporated into the previous footage, resulting in the bizarre monster mashup that Horror.

“To tell you the truth, I hated it,” Farel said. “I hated what was done to the film. It wasn’t our film. It was kind of taken apart and reassembled. It just wasn’t the film we had made. We didn’t like anything that was done to it. However, Vinegar Syndrome put it on Blu-ray and suddenly the fans liked it.”

In HorrorA group of stranded friends seek refuge in an abandoned mansion, where they encounter countless demonic creatures under the control of an evil sorcerer.

Farel described his script for the sequel as “a love letter to the fans who made it possible to make another Horror The film was just great because they responded so positively to the first part, which hadn’t been readily seen for many, many years.”
