MVA gave ‘Supari’ to policemen to take me to jail: Devendra Fadnavis

NAGPUR: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had a ‘super‘ To Police officers to incriminate him and some others BJP leader and put them behind bars. Fadnavis responded to the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh‘s statement that the MVA had plotted to frame and arrest senior BJP politicians.
“During the tenure of MVA, police officers were given a ‘supari’ to lock up me, Girish Mahajan, Pravin Darekar and a few others. Some officers accepted the ‘supari’ but could not execute the plan as there were other good officers who refused to obey their master’s diktat,” he said.
Fadnavis and NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh have been engaged in a war of words for two weeks. It began with Deshmukh claiming that Fadnavis, as leader of the opposition in 2021, had pressured him to accuse MVA ministers or face jail in response to an action by the central investigation agencies.
Fadnavis’ supporters retaliated by accusing Deshmukh of running an extortion racket as the state’s Home Minister, which came to light through complaints lodged by IPS officer Param Bir Singh and his subordinate Sachin Waze.
The latest participant in this controversy was Singh himself, who alleged that the MVA government had planned to send Fadnavis to jail. Reacting to Singh’s statement, Fadnavis said, “Whatever he (Param Bir) said about MVA’s plan to arrest me and other BJP politicians is true. Singh has mentioned one incident, but there are at least four such incidents where a conspiracy was hatched to arrest me on false charges. But we have exposed the plot and submitted the evidence to the CBI. Even today, I have several video evidences on the issue.”
