Family Fun Day at this Staten Island Park includes free carousel rides

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Thanks to Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo (R-Mid-Island), Staten Islanders will have the opportunity to have some family fun at Willowbrook Park on August 21.

The elected official said Monday that children would be able to ride the carousel for free for all of the park’s children and that the Staten Island Hindu Temple would also offer a free yoga class.

Typically, a ride on the carousel costs $3 or $50 for a 20-ride coupon.

Pirozzolo said the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the park entrance at Richmond Avenue and Eton Place and that the event will feature music, games and giveaways.

The congressman worked with several Staten Island organizations to organize the event, including the Staten Island Ferryhawks, the St. George Theater and the National Lighthouse Museum.

Last year, Pirozzolo hosted the event in his second year in office, and this will be the second Family Fun Day his office has hosted.

“I want to thank every partner and every Staten Islander who came out and made our first Family Fun Day an incredible success,” Pirozzolo said after last year’s event. “It was a joy to see what happens when those who care so much about our community come together to connect what they offer with those they serve. This culminated in a beautiful day for children with their families, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue this event alongside others in the future. I am deeply honored that the residents of Staten Island chose me to represent them, and hosting an event like this is a simple way to say thank you.”
