MULTI-HEADKentucky – Morehead State volleyball opens its 2024 regular season this weekend when the Eagles make the short trip to Lexington for the Bluegrass Battle. The Eagles will face Western Kentucky at 4 p.m. ET on Friday, Northern Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and face Kentucky at 1 p.m. on Sunday. All games will be played at the newly renovated Memorial Coliseum.
The Kentucky game will be broadcast on SEC+/ESPN+, the other two on ESPN+.

PREVIOUS MEETING & SERIES HISTORY
- Morehead State has a 9-9 overall record against Western Kentucky, but the teams have not played each other since the 2012 season opener in Louisville.
- The Eagles have a 14-21 record against NKU. However, NKU has won the last four meetings, all of which have taken place at MSU.
- Morehead State has an overall record of 14-28 against the Kentucky Wildcats, with UK winning the last 22 meetings since 1979.
NOTEWORTHY
- Fun fact: The last time MSU faced Western Kentucky was in Louisville during the 2012 season, the same year the NCAA Final Four was played in Louisville. This season, MSU will face WKU and the Final Four will once again be played in Louisville.
- Peighton Isley is just 25 digs away from 1,000 in her career. She would be the 29th player in program history to join the 1,000-dig club. Her 564 digs in 2023 rank ninth on the program’s single-season dig charts.
- I am Hargan And Irene Wogenstahl are both on the Ohio Valley Conference preseason All-Conference team.
- Irene Wogenstahl has a career batting average of .292, which is currently the fifth-best percentage in program history. Her point total is actually the best at MSU in the rally scoring era (2001-present).
- Irene Wogenstahl enters her final season with 327 blocks in her career, including 126 last season when she finished second in the OVC. She also holds the MSU single-game record for block assists with 13, set in 2022.
- A rarity, but a positive for the Eagles: Morehead State returned its entire 2023 roster. The Eagles also brought in three new additions for one of the larger rosters in recent history with 16 players.
- Newbie Sarah Heathan outside hitter, was a first-team JUCO All-American at Richard Bland College (Va.) in 2023 and a second-team All-American in 2022.
- I am Hargan led the team last year with 391 kills, including six attempts with over 20 kills.
- Morehead State is the only OVC program with more than 1,000 wins in program history. The Eagles also have a total of 14 conference championships (regular season and tournament).
- MSU has had 12 20-plus win seasons in the last 20 years.
- Head Coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride is in her second season leading the program and led the team to 18 wins in her first season, but is in her 14th season overall on the MSU coaching staff.
