First step for flights between Istanbul and Mostar

The first step has been taken for the flights that will connect Istanbul with Mostar, one of the most important tourist and historical cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the meeting, Turkish officials were presented with the tourism potential and investment opportunities of the city of Mostar and the Herzegovina region in general, while emphasizing the importance of direct flights from Istanbul to Mostar.

Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Turkey Enver İskurt and General Director of Civil Aviation Kemal Yüksek, Head of General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Aviation Department Sefa Ceyhan, Director of Sales and Network Planning of Pegasus Airlines Emre Pekesen and Head of Ground Operations Group Boğaç Uğurlutegin met with Mostar Mayor Mario Kordic, Prime Minister of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) Marija Buhac, HNK Finance Minister Adil Suto and Mostar Airport Director Marko Duzel during their visit to Mostar.

Investment opportunities were discussed

At the meeting, the Turkish authorities were informed about the tourism potential and investment opportunities of the city of Mostar and the Herzegovina region in general, and the importance of direct flights from Istanbul to Mostar was highlighted. Mayor Mario Kordic stated that it is very important for Mostar to be connected to Istanbul by a direct flight and that the Municipality of Mostar is ready to contribute to the realization of this flight.

Parties interacted positively

HNK Prime Minister Marija Buhac stressed that tourism is one of the strategic areas for the development of the Herzegovina region and said that the government is ready to support the improvement of airport infrastructure and the opening of new lines.

Deputy Transport Minister Enver İskurt stated that they would work on establishing direct flights between Istanbul and Mostar. Pegasus representatives also pointed out that Mostar is a well-known tourist destination in Turkey and has potential. If the technical infrastructure of the airport is suitable, flights from Istanbul to Mostar will be launched in the near future.

Meanwhile, Pegasus Airlines, which has been operating flights between Istanbul and Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for many years, has recently started flights to Tuzla.
