McCarthy advises Trump to stop questioning the legitimacy of Harris’ audience

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy warned former President Donald Trump about his social media posts about Vice President Kamala Harris not hosting large crowds, saying he should instead focus his criticism on her backtracking on numerous policies.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Harris used artificial intelligence to make it appear as though a large crowd was waiting for her plane to land. He wrote that “nobody was waiting” and that using AI was election interference. McCarthy said this was not an effective way to campaign against Harris and suggested he should criticize her past as a politician.

“Stop questioning the size of her groups and start questioning her position when it comes to what she has done as attorney general on crime,” McCarthy said on the Fox News show America’s newsroom“The question is what she did when she was supposed to be taking care of the border as czarina. The question is that they brought inflation, and she was the deciding vote when it came to inflation, when it came to the IRS agents.”

McCarthy added that Harris was the “perfect” candidate to replace Trump because she makes “the biggest U-turns” on policy issues, such as changing her opposition to fracking to instead wanting to secure the border.

“So don’t sit back. Go out there and start making your case and use your own words to do that to her,” McCarthy said.

The Washington Examiner Tim Carney also criticized Trump for his claim against Harris, arguing that it was a “gift” to Harris and her 2024 vice presidential candidate, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), and a “mistake” by the Republican presidential candidate.

The crowd at Harris’ rally filled an airport hangar in Michigan and greeted Harris and Walz from Air Force Two last week. The Harris campaign confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the photo posted by Trump was taken by the Harris campaign team and was not altered by AI.

Trump has made his concerns about artificial intelligence clear in the past. In an interview with social media influencer Logan Paul, he stated that he had seen an artificial intelligence-generated ad of himself promoting a product and called it “very disturbing” and “scary.”
