Nine Mile Road is the target of a planned development project that will see the construction of a new 80,000-square-foot building across from Saint Luke United Methodist Church.
According to the project’s site plan filed with Escambia County, developers plan to build two restaurants and two retail spaces in the 9 Mile Commons building. The restaurants will be 1,900 square feet, while the retail space will be 1,700 square feet.
The project includes an access road to East Nine Mile Road and a 58-space parking lot, but potential residents of the building have not yet been identified.
If these plans are approved, the project will be built on a 1.55-acre site on East Nine Mile Road between Waterside Chiropractic and PenAir Credit Union.

The developer behind the proposal, Bloomfield Investment, already owns the two plots of land on which the project site is located.
Plans to develop this property have been in place for over a decade: applicant Gary Bishop had already proposed a project in 2013 that envisaged the creation of a 715 square meter retail space and also envisaged the establishment of a fast-food outlet.
