My skin has probably the largest pores in the world and is also the oiliest it’s ever been. It’s been my biggest problem for a long time. Clinical treatments? I’ve tried them all. Chemical peels, Morpheus 8, every laser device ever invented – you name it, I’ve tried it. They were all… OK, but nothing really gave me the results I wanted until I discovered microneedling (also known as SkinPen) with exosomes, the latest buzzword in the industry.

I know microneedling has been around for years, but doctors are researching new innovations to improve its effectiveness. The magic potion? Exosomes. The beauty industry’s new secret weapon for better skin and thicker hair. And the two treatments together are a powerful combination that promises to make your skin look smoother and younger within a few sessions. But what Are Exosomes and, more importantly, why is everyone talking about them?

“Exosomes are packets of biosignals that powerfully and naturally alter the behavior of our cells as a whole,” says Rebecca Walker, skin specialist and founder of The Face Lab. “We use external, highly charged, plant-derived exosomes that teach your cells to behave as if you were at your optimal age (18 years old). Benefits include reducing inflammation in the skin and reducing facial skin conditions including acne, rosacea, pigmentation, aging and facial scar tissue.”

Exosomes are among the most rejuvenating additives used in professional skincare treatments. Incorporating exosomes into treatments such as microneedling and laser treatments that create micro-injuries that allow the exosomes to penetrate the skin properly are some of the most effective ways to use this product.

But what benefit do they have for us girls with XXL pores, I hear you ask? “Increasing collagen and elastin levels in the skin improves the appearance of pores,” Rebecca adds. “More collagen = smaller pores.” The ingredient also treats uneven skin tone, helps with scars, fine lines, sagging skin or skin texture. So basically it’s a no-brainer…

The Face Lab offers a range of treatments using exosome therapy. The EXO|E Complex System, for example, is a 15-day treatment. Over the course of 15 days, 25 billion exosomes and plant stem cells are applied to the skin, providing results that last for 12 months. And if regular clinic visits don’t fit with your lifestyle or schedule, there are ways to incorporate this potent formula into your skincare routine as well, with a 30-day topical at-home treatment, also available from The Face Lab.

If your goal is to look fresh and have plump and radiant skin, then exosomes could be just what you need. Regenerating. Rejuvenating. Restoring. After just two sessions, my results were visible. But after three? A new me. My pores are visibly smaller, the oil production in my T-zone seems to have calmed down considerably and the elasticity of my skin has also improved.
