CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – As we previously reported, Bluff’s Landing Marina has closed its private ramp to the public effective July 31.
Another ramp down the street, Boat Stop Marina, said our story inspired them to make their ramp more accessible.
KRIS 6 News reporter Tony Jaramillo interviewed Brian Wruble about 3 weeks ago about Bluff’s Landing Marina’s decision to close their ramp to the public. It is now only accessible to those who purchase boat slips. These boat slips cost upwards of $80,000, which upset many people in Flour Bluff.
“I mean, this is going to be a real pain for a lot of people,” Wruble said.
But a newer boat ramp on the same street, Boat Stop Marina, says that after reading our story, they were inspired to make their ramp more affordable and accessible to the public.
“It’s their right to run their business the way they see fit. And maybe we’ll get some of the surplus from that,” said Tony Russo, manager of Boat Stop Marina.
How much cheaper is access to this ramp?
“$495 initiation fee and then $49 a month. I’ve been getting a lot of calls. A lot of people come by and do tours of the facility,” Russo said.
While Wruble is happy that this option is more affordable, it is still a private option. He still hopes to see true public boat ramps in Flour Bluff.
“But what I’m really concerned about is public ramps. The island has three or four public boat ramps,” Wruble said.
