Two years after the critically acclaimed first season The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is back.

The second season of the The Lord of the Rings The sequel series will premiere on Prime Video on August 29. The main roles are played by Morfydd Clark as young Galadriel, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Daniel Weyman as the Stranger, Benjamin Walker as the Elven High King Gil-Galad, Robert Aramayo as the young Elrond, Charles Edwards as the Elven Prince Celebrimbor, Owain Arthur as the Dwarf Prince Durin IV and Maxim Baldry as Isildur.

Based on JRR Tolkien’s book series, The Rings of Power was created by Patrick McKay and John Payne and is set in the Second Age – thousands of years before the events in The Hobbit And The Lord of the Rings – and brings new and familiar characters to the small screen.

Since Amazon only owns the film rights for The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and the appendices of the novels, The Rings of Power explores the events of the Second and Third Ages, including the forging of the Rings of Power and the final alliances of Elves and Men. Season two of The Rings of Power begins after Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) reveals himself to be Sauron. According to the logline, “Rejected by Galadriel, without an army or allies, the aspiring Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power that will allow him to bend all the peoples of Middle-earth to his dark will.”

The series’ most beloved and vulnerable characters are thrust into a rising tide of darkness and must find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of disaster.
