Chelsea focuses on signing Joao Felix

Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign 24-year-old striker Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, with Aston Villa also interested.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Chelsea have turned their attention to Joao Felix after Samu Omorodion was ruled out. The Portugal international is also a target for Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old striker was set to sign a long-term deal with Chelsea after a medical. However, the move fell through due to a contract issue. Chelsea will now part ways with the Spaniard and sign the 24-year-old Portuguese striker.

Felix was previously on loan at Chelsea and the Blues are hoping to bring him back to the club. The 24-year-old is also a target of Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Chelsea desperately need a good attacker and Felix would be a sensible signing. Although he is not a great goalscorer, his overall footballing ability makes him an attractive candidate. The 24-year-old is still quite young and will only get better with training and experience. In the long term, he could be a key player for Chelsea.

Joao Felix could wish for a return to Chelsea

Regular play in the Premier League could help Joao Felix to continue to improve. During his time at Benfica he was considered a world-class talent. But his move to Atletico Madrid did not work out.

He has also been on loan to Barcelona. The player hopes to finally end his nightmare at Atletico Madrid and join a club where he can make a fresh start. Chelsea could offer him that opportunity. He has played for the Blues in England in the past, so he should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can secure the 24-year-old’s signature for a reasonable fee. Atletico Madrid will be looking to raise money for their own signings this summer and a permanent sale of Felix would be ideal for them.

The 24-year-old has no future at the Spanish club. Atletico Madrid had hoped to sell Omorodion to Chelsea, but the transfer did not work out. It remains to be seen whether they can now compensate for this loss with the departure of Felix.
