Seattle Mariners outfielders hit two home runs in the same inning

SEATTLE – The Seattle Mariners broke a tie with a pair of home runs against Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Tyler Alexander with two outs in the fifth inning on Wednesday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.

Mariners hit 3 home runs, beat Rays 6-2 and win the series

Right fielder Victor Robles got the party started when he slammed a 91 mph fastball over the zone into the left field bullpen for a two-out, two-run home run that also brought home third baseman Dylan Moore for a 3-1 lead. Moore reached base on a one-out double down the left field line two batters earlier.

The home run was Robles’ fourth of the season and flew 385 feet with an exit velocity of 102.5 mph, according to Statcast.

Shortstop JP Crawford, playing his first game in over a month after being out injured with a broken pinky on his right hand, then worked a full-count walk. Centerfielder Julio Rodríguez then hit another two-out, two-run blast to left field to give the Mariners a 5-1 lead. Rodríguez also worked a full count, scoring one yard on the eighth pitch of his at-bat – an 85.9 mph cutter to the top inside corner.

The home run was Rodríguez’s 12th of the season, traveling 356 feet with an exit velocity of 95 miles per hour. It was his first home run since returning from the injured list on August 11. The center fielder had not hit a home run since July 20.

The two home runs marked Seattle’s second multi-home run game in the three-game series against Tampa Bay.
