Cardinal Zen publishes book on building a church without a “synodal process”

CV-NEWS-FEED // On August 20, Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun published a book that offers advice and practical wisdom for an authentically Catholic life amid the debate about synodality sparked by the Synod.

Cardinal Zen, who has criticized the synod before, focuses on ways to live out the Catholic faith in everyday life in his book “Catholic and Apostolic: From the Church of the Apostles to the ‘Synodal’ Church.” One of his previous criticisms of the synod was that it was taking place on a universal level and had no clear goal, the Catholic News Agency reported in February.

According to Sophia Institute Press, the book’s publisher, the book is “compiled from homilies, pastoral letters and addresses (by Cardinal Zen)” and “reveals the meaning of the Gospel and Sacred Tradition to help you stand firm in the true faith and revitalize your personal relationship with our Lord.”

Sophia Institute Press noted that the Church is in a time of suffering and crisis, adding that the Synod on Synodality has caused “confusion and discord” among faithful Catholics.

His book is said to be about the “dangers” of the Synod, about “surefire ways to ‘test the mind’ and discern the truth,” but also about ways to receive God’s grace, to love and worship him, and to “gain confidence instead of fear.”

“These wise teachings will protect you and give you the spiritual medicine and ‘abundant nourishment’ you need for a fulfilling daily life,” explained Sophia Institute Press. “Cardinal Zen shows how to pass on the faith with vitality and love to every generation – even from the comfort of your own home.”
