Security cameras can be a great way to monitor and secure your home or office. They put eyes where you need them and can capture things you might never see otherwise. And while there are a number of brands that offer security cameras and other similar devices, Wyze is one of the most attractive to consumers because it offers products that are inexpensive and have relatively reliable features.
Now, the brand is adding some new AI features to its products for Cam Unlimited subscribers, offering an easier way to find exactly what you’re looking for without spending hours scrolling and browsing through videos. Wyze AI Video Search is a feature that’s been in beta for a few months, but now it seems ready for a bigger test, as Cam Unlimited subscribers can request access by pointing to the Wyze AI Video Search page or using the direct login page.
If you’re currently in the US and subscribed to Wyze Cam Unlimited, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen a prompt in your app to join the pilot program. The great thing about this is that you can be as specific as you want when searching, so you really can find exactly what you’re looking for. Of course, just like other AI tools on the market today, this won’t be a perfect experience, but it should work well enough to give you a head start when looking for something in your videos.
As mentioned, you’ll need to sign up for this feature to gain access. You’ll know you’ve gained access when you receive an email from the company to that effect. You can also check in the app to see if you see a new search icon in the top right corner of the app that enables AI search. The great thing about this is that you can use this feature in the app, but also on the web via a browser. Since this isn’t fully public, there’s always a chance it could be removed or even offered in a different form if it goes fully live without an invite.
Wyze hints in its footnote to the feature that this could be a possibility: “AI Video Search is an experimental feature that may not be included in Cam Unlimited in the future. We reserve the right to end testing at any time.” This possibility seems increasingly likely, as there is now a placeholder on the Wyze website indicating future availability of the Cam Unlimited Pro tier, which will include AI Video Search. No price is listed for the current highest tier, Cam Unlimited, which costs $9.99 per month.
Of course, Wyze is by no means perfect, and we know there have been issues with privacy and customer security in the past, so if you’re considering using this service, be aware that the company doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to handling customer data. With that in mind, we’ll just have to wait and see how powerful this new feature is and how much it will cost when it’s available.
