Saturday, August 31st – QUECHEE – Join VINS for a special Fairy Day! Explore the forest through hands-on play and celebrate creativity with the art form of fairy houses, build for fun or enter our contest to win a private experience! Participants will go on a fairy hunt and have the opportunity to explore and learn about the forest around you while searching for our fairy friends. Enjoy the day with other magical activities such as a guided mushroom hike, fairy tales, crafts, face painting, a bubble lab, some frozen candy and amazing themed programs with live animals. Costumes are highly encouraged!
Fairy house building competition
The competition runs until the closing date on August 31st at 1:00 p.m.
All natural materials (except glue) must be inanimate if they come from nature. Materials cannot come from an existing fairy house.
Placement: Houses must be placed in a labeled location on the Fairy Town Trail. When placed, the letter can be replaced with a provided information card (which includes name, age, contact information, house title, and materials used). Houses can be built and placed as early as August 30th during regular business hours (10am-5pm) and must be placed no later than August 31st at 1pm.
Houses can be built on site or erected off-site and brought for installation.
Houses must be built to fit within a 2′ x 2′ area. There are no restrictions on size or weight.
The winners in each age category will be selected by a panel of judges and awarded a gift bag from the VINS Nature Store. A crowd favorite will be chosen from all categories to receive the main prize, a private animal encounter at VINS.
In addition to the general admission price, there is a $10 competition entry fee.
