The Henry County Kiwanis Club donated $150,000 to Henry County Parks & Recreation this month. The donation will be used to build new playgrounds at Cochran Park and Heritage Park.
Donation for Kiwanis Club playgrounds
The local Kiwanis Club made its presentation at the board meeting on August 20. Henry County commissioners and staff praised the club for its support of local parks. Parks Director JP Penn said, “We are very pleased to receive this donation. We have a good working relationship with the Kiwanis Club of Henry County and are very grateful for their support.”
Henry County Chairman Harrell noted, “It is partnerships and collaborations like this that make our community great.” Commissioner Robinson added, “This shows how important community partners are.” Both expressed their gratitude to the Kiwanis Club.
Representatives from the local Kiwanis Club thanked the community for their support, especially during the annual County Fair, saying this event makes donations like this possible. This year’s Henry County Fair is fast approaching and will be held Wednesday through Sunday, September 18-22, at Heritage Park in McDonough.

Master plan for parks
Later that evening, Henry County adopted its Parks Master Plan. The plan lays out how to best improve the county’s existing parks over the next decade and where to build new parks. Check it out!
