Disneyland opens new Bayou Country ahead of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Orange County Register

Ahead of the debut of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a Winnie-the-Pooh attraction and a Winnie-the-Pooh shop will reopen, while Disneyland begins unveiling the transformation of Critter Country into Bayou Country to welcome Princess Tiana to the reimagined land.

Disneyland will reopen the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ghost train and the Pooh Corner candy shop on Thursday, August 29.

The return of the Pooh ride and the Pooh shop mark the transformation of Critter Country into Bayou Country.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open on November 15th once the redesign of Splash Mountain is complete. A soft opening of the redesigned 1989 water ride remains possible.

Still to come in Bayou Country is the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree (updating the Hungry Bear Restaurant menu), Louis’ Critter Club (taking over the half of Pooh Corner closest to the former Splash Mountain wooden track), and Ray’s Berets (replacing the Briar Patch Shop).

No opening dates have been set for Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Louis’ Critter Club or Ray’s Berets.

The reimagining of the Splash Mountain ride removed thematic elements from “Song of the South,” the controversial 1940s film that was criticized for perpetuating racist stereotypes and from which Disney has distanced itself.

The redesign of the Briar Patch – named after Brer Rabbit’s trap in the Uncle Remus stories – will remove the last remaining reminder of the “Song of the South” from the Anaheim theme park.
