The clearly Advance Wars-inspired turn-based infantry combat game “Warside” gets a new trailer

If you enjoyed the classic Advance Wars and other more modern turn-based tactical combat games, you’ll probably love Warside too. The game is currently being developed by UK (London)-based company LAVABIRD and looks extremely promising.

Not only will there be a full single player mode with over thirty missions, but there will also be local and online co-op missions, and the opportunity to compete against friends and enemies in local and online PvP.

Check out the new trailer below:

Nice to see Steam Deck mentioned directly in a trailer too, pretty cool, we don’t see that often! They previously confirmed on their successful Kickstarter that there would be Linux support so that’s not surprising. It’s also built using the free and open source Godot engine which is great.

Features:

  • Intuitive turn-based gameplay with a familiar feel for fans of the classics.
  • 12 playable commanders, each with unique passive abilities and combat powers.
  • Control over 25 unit types. Fight simultaneously on land, air and sea with ground troops, aircraft and naval units.
  • Unique faction units with faction-specific mechanics.
  • Single player campaign with over 30 missions.
  • Forest, desert and snow biomes as well as toxic wastelands.
  • Challenge friends and enemies in multiplayer battles. Local and internet play is supported.
  • Design your own maps with the integrated single and multiplayer mission editor.

More information:

Prepare for war in a thrilling single-player campaign with over thirty missions. Rally the troops as one of twelve commanders, each with different skills that can decide the outcome of the battle.
