The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets softball team played the second leg of a back-to-back game against the Jenkins Warriors on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets were able to get back on track with a 14-2 win over Jenkins.

After an early deficit, Southeast Bulloch managed to score 14 unanswered runs and put the game away. Southeast Bulloch went into the 4th inning with an 11-2 lead and finished the game with runs of Maghan Newman, Trell Reed, And Paisley Nordeoff.

The Yellow Jackets got several throws into the outfield, but their speed and aggressiveness on base allowed them to quickly run up the score. They also benefited from a few unforced errors by Jenkins.

The third inning was the most exciting for the Yellow Jackets, who extended their lead to 11-2 with 5 runs. Newman and Kayleigh Hickman scored due to errors. Ella Rae Jerrigan reached home base with a sacrifice flyball. Marissa Waters sent a ball outside the fence for a 2-run home run that allowed Kristiana Tisby to make it home.

Although Southeast Bulloch had control of the game, there were still some shaky moves on defense. Head Coach Aimé Civalier brought her team together on the field to get them refocused. “I felt like we lost a little bit of focus, we weren’t communicating,” Civalier said. “It was just time to get them out there and make sure they were staying with each throw and focused on the next one.”

The Yellow Jackets were able to rebound from a loss suffered on the road against Wayne County on Monday. They started slow, allowing Jenkins to take a 2-0 lead early in the first inning. After that, it was all SEB. “They did a good job, we didn’t have a clean inning in the first inning when we allowed 2 runs,” Civalier said. “We had good at-bats and got extra bases. That’s a good rebound from the loss to Wayne.”

Southeast Bulloch’s record improves to 9-1 this season with a 3-0 record in the region.
