Hey guys and welcome to the 2024 US Open – Day Three!
And again, there’s so much absurd tennis it’s hard to know where to start. We’ve got Madison Keys and Francis Tiafoe on Ashe, while on Armstrong it’s Paula Badosa – her match against Taylor Townsend could be a good one – followed by Alexander Zverev, again seeking his first Grand Slam title, and Aryna Sabalenka, this blog’s favorite for the women’s crown.
But as we remembered yesterday, at this stage of a tournament, the best matches are likely to take place on the two main tournament courts, and there we have quite a choice. We will see Barbora Krejcikova, the Wimbledon champion; Ben Shelton against Roberto Bautista Agut; Casper Ruud against Gael Monfils; and Elina Svitolina against Anhelina Kalinina.
Is that all? No! There’s also Griggzy Dimitrov, Lorenzo Musetti, Andrey Rublev, Daria Kasatkina and the up-and-coming Alexei Popyrin; Harriet Dart versus Marta Kostyuk, a potential clash between Brandon Nakashima and Arthur Cazaux, an Argentinian derby between Facundo Cerundolo and Tomas Etcheverry and Donna Vekic versus Geet Minnen. Crazy!
