Let us know what you think will happen in the Ohio State vs. Akron game.

There’s real Ohio State football being played on Saturday, my friends, and I couldn’t be more excited. Yes, it’s just a game against the lowly Akron Zips, who have gone 4-and-20 overall in Joe Moorhead’s two seasons as head coach, but it’s a real intercollegiate football contest with the Ohio State Buckeyes, and nothing will dampen my excitement.

Assuming you’re as excited as I am, we’ve got two questions about this weekend’s game in our fan poll. One requires a bit of clever football interpretation, the other is more of a guessing game, so check out the questions below and then fill in the survey at the end of the article.

Question 1: Who will score the first touchdown of the season for Ohio State?

I realize I didn’t list every possible player who could score Ohio State’s first touchdown of the season in the poll below, but I tried to include as many possible candidates as possible. I gave equal consideration to both offense and defense, because as good as Jim Knowles’ side of the ball is and as bad as Akron’s offense is, it could very well come from a pick-six or scoop and score.

However, if the person you want to predict to be the first Buckeyes player to make it into the end zone isn’t on the list, feel free to add your pick in the comments at the end of the article. Just for fun and for the love of it, I’m giving that honor to TreVeyon Henderson for a 29-yard run on the Buckeyes’ first offensive series.

Question 2: What will be the margin of victory in Saturday’s game?

Look, Ohio State is going to win this game, and win it handily. The Buckeyes are seven-plus touchdown favorites over the Zips, and even that seems a bit generous to the visiting team. I’m usually hesitant to bet on OSU when they’re such a monstrous favorite, because that’s a hell of a lot of points, and it’s Akron, Day isn’t going to really try hard to beat up the opposition.

However, I have stated publicly that the Buckeyes defense will allow fewer than 10 points per game this season, and to do that, they will almost certainly have a shutout or two on their resume this fall. So I’m assuming (as silly as this may sound) that the Zips don’t score any points on Saturday and the offense averages two touchdowns per quarter. If that’s the case, not only would they score, they would do so comfortably by a score of 56-0. Let us know your pick in the poll below.
