Major restaurant closures in Dallas in August 2024

Trompo

After a close call earlier this year, Trompo in Oak Cliff is closing its doors – for real this time. The company has struggled with financial problems several times over the years, despite receiving awards and honors.

Bar None

It opened in late 2020, as the pandemic was still raging in Texas, and is closing this August, about four years later. This East Dallas spot that was somewhere between a nice bar and a neighborhood bistro is closing its doors without ever really gaining a foothold, its owners told CultureMap Dallas.

Green Door Guesthouse

This pub near the Dallas Farmers Market is closing after 10 years. The historic 1899 building it occupies was moved brick by brick in 2014. At this time, it’s unknown what will happen next.

Sugar factory

This chain, which opened a store in Uptown, has closed and shuttered its intense desserts windows. Dallas Morning News reports that the company will move to a new location, although there are few details about where and when this will happen.
