ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. – A video of an Alameda County Fire Department firefighter’s racist and profanity-laced rant has gone viral on TikTok after a community member was reportedly involved in a car crash in San Joaquin County on Friday.
On Sunday, the ACFD released a statement confirming the incident, adding that the agency would investigate the firefighter’s language, which “does not align with the values and standards we hold as an organization.” The firefighter’s identity was not confirmed in the statement.
In the video, the ACFD firefighter walks up to a resident’s driver’s side window and berates him for his alleged poor driving and for not letting him pass on the highway as their argument escalates.
The community member replied, “The police are coming, it’s okay.”
“The cops are coming anyway, stupid Mexican… Filipino,” the fireman replies.
“Oh, okay, you racist motherfucker,” says the community member. “Oh, I’m Mexican?”
“I don’t care what you are. What are you? What are you?” says the ACFD firefighter. “I’m not a racist, I’m a damn firefighter.”
The parishioner says, “Stop spitting on me. The cops will take care of it.”
“I’m going to keep spit on you. I’m going to spit on you as much as I want,” the firefighter replies.
Alameda County Fire Chief William McDonald issued a statement saying, “Our department is committed to gathering all the facts and we are handling this situation in a manner that reflects our commitment to integrity, professionalism and community trust. We want to ensure we continue to serve our community with the highest level of respect, both on and off duty.”
At the time of publication, the TikTok had more than 2,600 views and nearly 500 comments.
The cause of the suspected car crash is unclear. The Bay Area News Group has reached out to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office but has not been able to obtain any further information.
