Sabrina CarpenterThe new single “Taste” comes with a bloody video inspired by the film Death suits her well, in which they and Jenna Ortega try to kill each other in a cruel and bloody way – before they realize that they prefer each other to the man they fought for.

In her new Amazon Music track-by-track feature, Sabrina says “Taste” is one of her favorite songs on her new album Short and sweet – but she likes the video even better.

“I had this vision and idea of ​​showing a very open, lighthearted, brutal relationship between two women where it’s so obvious how much they love each other and how obsessed they are with each other,” she explains. “But there’s also this kind of jealousy and anger. And I think it’s something that just felt so human to me.”

“I was really excited to have the incredible Jenna Ortega in the video and Dave Meyers“Having him direct it just made it ten times more special and brought the song to life in a different way than I had imagined when I wrote it,” she adds.

In the video, Sabrina is the spurned ex who resents Jenna for being with her husband. After they shoot, stab, and dismember each other, Jenna accidentally kills the man. But at his funeral, she and Sabrina exchange flirtatious glances and walk away together.

Using Amazon Music’s track-by-track feature, Sabrina tells the stories behind some other songs on Short and sweetincluding “Please, please, please” and “Espresso”.

It will take a few days until we find out how Short and sweet and “button” do on the Billboard Charts, but in the UK both the song and the album are on course to reach number 1.
