Twenty-three students from Ogeechee Technical College’s Practical Nursing program celebrated their graduation and entry into the profession during an awards ceremony in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium. They were honored by their faculty and celebrated for their dedication and willingness to work in the health care field.
Twenty-three students in the Practical Nursing program at Ogeechee Technical College received their pins at a semi-annual pinning ceremony held on July 30, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium.
During the ceremony, instructors Jackie Howard, Felicia Barefoot, Haley Hendrix, Kathryn Cowart and Laurie Jones presented the students with their pins to mark the completion of their training and official entry into the profession.
“I am incredibly proud of our graduates and what they have accomplished in such a short period of time,” said Angel Shuman, director of the Practical Nursing program. “This year’s awards ceremony recognizes not only their hard work, but also their willingness to meet the urgent health needs of our communities.”

“Many of our graduates are ready to enter the workforce directly, while others prepare for our ASN program,” Shuman said. “It’s reassuring to know that the nurses entering our health care system are not only well-educated, but also outstanding people.”
