The Telos Alliance brings a new multi-channel soft codec to the IBC show.

According to the company, Zephyr Connect is “based on the Telos iPort hardware product line,” but is “delivered as a software container that can be deployed on-premises on a COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) server or hosted in the cloud.”

Telos envisions Zephyr Connect for tasks such as “broadcasting multiple linear or MPEG channels over VPNs, satellite links, Ethernet radio systems, and services provided by telcos and ISPs such as SD-WAN, MPLS, or traditional data links. It can also be used as a network distribution system, as a multi-channel link to remote studios, or as a studio-to-broadcast link,” the announcement said.

It also states: “When used with a suitable audio streaming server, Zephyr Connect can transmit audio, ancillary data, and GPIO over a QoS-enabled IP connection between studios on a Livewire network using Telos Alliance xNodes.”

Robbie Green, Product Manager at Telos Alliance, said: “Zephyr Connect offers the same functionality and features as our Telos iPort High Density hardware platform, but with greater flexibility and scalability. Each instance has two bi-directional codec channels, but customers can expand these in single-channel increments to a total of 64 channels, allowing them to easily grow as their needs change.”
