Bachelorette Jenn Tran says women ‘deserve’ after Sam M. drama (exclusive)

Jenn Tran has no problem standing up for herself.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 26-year-old Bachelorette tells what it was like to meet her former admirers at the Men tell everything She says many of them are people she will have “really great friendships” with in the future, but she knew she had to call others out on their behavior.

“I’ve grown so much on this journey that I’m a completely different person now than I was back then,” she explains. “I have a new confidence and a new strength. When I look back on it all, there are definitely certain situations with (the boys) that brought a lot of light to me in retrospect and I was like, ‘Oh, now I can pinpoint exactly what went wrong here and why I felt that way or why I didn’t stand up for myself.'”

She continues, “That’s why I wanted to use this opportunity to stand up for myself because I want women all over the world to see this and realize that we shouldn’t settle for less than we deserve.”

In the special, Jenn addressed Sam M’s “blatant disrespect” towards her several times during filming. She pointed to their date where Sam pressured her to jump off the Sky Tower in New Zealand, claimed the show gave him a bad edit and told him to “do better”.

“You’re a grown man and instead of taking responsibility for your actions, you decided to blame the producers, the editor, the TV show or whatever,” Jenn said. “And at the end of the day, the man on TV was the exact man I was sitting across from for the entire journey.”

The doctor’s assistant went on to tell Sam M. that she was “very, very sorry for whoever you end up with, because this delusional world you’re living in right now and this denial isn’t helping anyone.”

Speaking to PEOPLE, Jenn says she was grateful to see the drama between the men that she didn’t know about, but was also glad that it didn’t stop her from getting to know the guys.

“It’s so interesting – it’s crazy how they kept it all under wraps,” she says. “I just had no idea there was so much bickering, so much shouting, so much passion between all of them. And I mean, it was fun to look back and see how passionate they all were, but I’m glad it never clouded my journey.”

Although she called some men’s behavior “illuminating,” Jenn jokes that the finale puts her exactly where she needed to be.

“I don’t regret the whole journey,” she begins. “I think everything went exactly as it was supposed to and I’m so happy about it. I own up to all the mistakes I made along the way and stuff, and I like to learn from them. So I don’t regret anything.”
