AVENGERS Campus at Disneyland gets two new rides with Thanos and Iron Man

The Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is doubling in size. The House of Mouse announced that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be getting two new main attractions at the park. The first will let visitors travel the multiverse against King Thanos. The other new attraction will feature Robert Downey Jr. himself in his original role in the franchise. Guests can help Iron Man test out new flight equipment.

This year’s D23 was a cornucopia of good news for fans of the Disney parks, especially those who also love the Avengers. Disney’s California Adventure will finally deliver on the promise and potential of Avengers Campus. The park is massively expanding its offerings in its superhero land. Construction will begin next year on two new attractions.

The first of the two new attractions is a “multi-world adventure experience” called Avengers Infinity Defense. The ride mechanics aren’t yet known, but concept art and miniature models of the attraction’s cars lead us to believe it could be similar to Rise of the Resistance.) The company has provided concept art showing which characters will appear, as well as the premise behind it.

Avengers Infinity Defense will feature a bearded King Thanos as the main antagonist and will also take drivers through some famous franchise locations. From Disney:

The technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has disappeared, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc wherever he goes. Recruits travel alongside heroes big and small to famous places like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City. And you might even come face to face with King Thanos himself.

Disney gave a closer look at its second, newly announced Avengers ride. The brand new Stark Flight Lab will allow guests to “test drive” Iron Man’s latest technology in two-person pods that a robotic arm grabs and whirls around “in a simulated flight.”

And Robert Downey Jr. will be there for the tests, reprising his original MCU role as a genius billionaire, playboy and philanthropist.

With these two new attractions, Avengers Campus will finally be as powerful as Earth’s greatest heroes. As long as they keep stopping this version of Thanos.
