LINCOLN, Nebraska (WOWT) – Saturday marks the true beginning of the Dylan Raiola era in Nebraska football. Four days before the Huskers’ season opener against UTEP, the Big Red’s freshman starting quarterback had a message for fans:

“Fasten your seatbelts. This is going to be a fun ride.”

As Saturday approaches and Raiola steps onto the field in front of 90,000 people at Memorial Stadium and nerves mount, the 19-year-old quarterback says he will trust his training and teammates and simply play the game he has played since he was a kid.

“Teams will have their own ways of attacking us and a young quarterback, which is fine. That’s part of the game and you grow up fast,” Raiola said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge that each team takes on and it starts on Saturday.”

“He’s a young professional. He’s getting better, better, better,” said offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. “He still has to mature, but he’s going about it like a professional.”

Raiola’s ability to throw a long ball and extend plays when needed, along with Satterfield’s vision for a more creative offense, could make the Huskers look like the Chiefs by the end of the season.

Nebraska kicks off against UTEP on Saturday, August 31st at 2:30 p.m.
