Brothers at war: Peter Okoye writes open letter to former P-Square twin brother Paul

Brothers at war: Peter Okoye writes open letter to former P-Square twin brother Paul

My dear brother Paul,

As I have told you many times, I am not in competition with you or anyone else. However, it speaks volumes when you give countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both founded and built together. In your last interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-SQUARE songs and discredited me by saying that our song “EjeaJo” that I wrote with TI was a failure. You even went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me again.

You never mentioned the other songs like “Get-Squared”, “Bizzy Body”, “Personally”, “Roll It”, “Temptation”, “Alingo”, “More than a Friend”, “Shekini”, “Say Your Love”, “Gimme Dat”, “Senorita”, “IGBEdu” and some others. Were these songs also considered failures?

Every time I spoke about P-SQUARE in interviews, I always used “we” and “us” because I saw us as a team. But when you speak, it’s always “I” and “me,” even when I’m standing right next to you. It’s like I never existed.

My brother, none of us are the most talented artist in the world, but you fail to understand that God gave us this talent and even gave us another chance to excel after our last breakup, but instead you have chosen to make the most awarded and decorated music group in Africa a laughing stock again.

One thing is important to understand: fans didn’t fall in love with P-SQUARE because we sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined efforts – the two of us! P-SQUARE was a force, and fans fell in love with P-SQUARE because of our uniqueness and unity.

We both have talent, no question about it, and I have often praised you for your songwriting skills in our interviews. I have also praised everyone who has ever written a song for us, or even for me as Mr. P. But instead of showing gratitude for my kind words, you seem to find satisfaction in rubbing it in my face, forgetting that it is only by God’s grace that we have made it this far.

Instead of working with me to reclaim our number one spot in the music industry, you chose to work with Jude to claim number one spot in the P-SQUARE group, always looking for ways to exclude and humiliate me.

You always claim to be the songwriter, composer, producer, singer and backing vocalist of P-SQUARE. In fact, you are everything including video director, band, promoter, manager and even choreographer of P-SQUARE. You are the author and finisher of P-SQUARE! In fact, I give you 100% credit for everything instead of the 99% you claim.

I blame myself for not responding to your tweet claims from April 2015 where you claimed that you wrote and sang all of P-SQUARE’s songs. I did not respond to these false claims for the sake of peace as advised by family and friends and now I am paying dearly for it.

So, my brother, let me ask you: Is Rudeboy or Mr P bigger and more successful than P-SQUARE today? Are we individually selling out arenas and stadiums like P-SQUARE used to? Are we, as solo artists, at the top of the global music charts with our songs?

Do we excite the masses and entertain huge audiences like P-SQUARE?

I often wonder what you really get out of constantly disrespecting and belittling me. You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas, and even sided with Jude when he was blatantly trying to suppress me. Now it seems to me that you have taken it a step further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them think I am jealous of you.

They’ve done everything they can to make the fans hate me, but you know what? They’ll never hate me. Instead, they’ll hate both of us for disappointing them and letting them down.

I hope you’re happy now. I really wish you the best, brother! And as for those who believe these lies and false narratives and come to my page to leave negative comments, I understand because you’ve been fed the false narrative for a long time. Please let me focus and make my music in peace.

As for the EFCC matter,

I will address it today. Stay tuned! Peace
