“Fueling Students for Success Bike Ride” raises money to address food insecurity among students at LMU

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Lincoln Memorial University will host an event next month to address food insecurity among students.

LMU Women of Service has partnered with Bootlegger and Knoxville Harley-Davidson locations to host the “Fueling Students for Success Bike Ride” on Saturday, September 7th.

The event, which supports Lincoln’s Cupboard in its efforts to combat student food insecurity, is scheduled to begin at Knoxville Harley-Davidson on Clinton Highway and end at Bootlegger Harley-Davidson.

Registration takes place in person at Knoxville Harley-Davidson starting at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the ride, and the event itself begins at 11:30 a.m. Commemorative T-shirts are also available for purchase.

The entry fee is $15 and a meal for the drivers and $5 and a meal for the passengers. Additionally, the event is billed as a bike ride; cars and trucks are also welcome to participate, according to LMU.

The proceeds will benefit “Lincoln’s Cupboard,” which the university says is a lifeline for students.

“I’m really grateful (for the pantry). My budget is very limited and a quick meal for free is better than nothing at all,” said one student.

Lincoln’s Cupboard also accepts donations to help alleviate food insecurity among students.
