Lyft launches access to earned wages and pet rides

Lyft expanded its offering to include access to earned wages for drivers and a new service for pet owners.

The offer of access to earned wages is one of several new features for the Lyft Direct Debit card and banking app for drivers developed and operated by Payfarethe two companies said on Tuesday (27 August) Press release.

Other new features of the platform include the ability for drivers to automatically deposit a portion of their earnings into their savings account, balance protection that allows drivers to access up to $200 for unexpected expenses when needed, higher cash back rewards and the ability to deposit cash into their Lyft Direct account at participating ATMs, according to the press release.

The platform now also includes a tool called Spend Insights, which provides drivers with a detailed analysis of their spending habits, as well as a range of health and financial wellness tools in collaboration with Avibrasays the press release.

“These new additions to Lyft Direct will help drivers make even better use of banking products, financial tools and cash back rewards, whether they are saving for their wedding, providing for a family or trying to earn some extra money on the side to fund their passions and dreams,” Jeremy VogelExecutive Vice President of Driver Experience at Lyft, said in the press release.

Lyft also announced Tuesday that it has launched a new feature that allows riders to be matched with drivers who are comfortable with pets in their cars.

When using this function, which is known as Pet ridesPassengers pay a fee of $4 plus tax, and drivers receive the full fee, Lyft said Monday (August 26) Press release. Pet Rides is now available nationwide.

Lyft has 1 million active driver on site, CEO of Lyft David Risher he said during the ride-sharing platform’s recent earnings call. Last quarter, it hired the most new drivers since 2019.
