New free tool helps Vermonters build resumes and find jobs

BURLINGTON, Vermont (WCAX) – A new tool connects job-seeking Vermonters with open positions across the state.

“It’s not necessarily based on your education or your job title. It’s based on your skills and what you’ve done in your life,” said Alex Beck, director of the Vermont Employment Pathfinder initiative.

Sign up on the Pathfinder website and start building your online profile by adding jobs and skills. The site then uses artificial intelligence to create a resume based on that information, connecting you with employment opportunities.

It is free for all job seekers in Vermont.

“I think this tool is great for people in transition. Whether it’s transitioning from long-term unemployment, from recovery, from a previous prison sentence or returning to work,” Beck said.

According to the data, almost 400 people have already used the website and over 80 of them have now found employment, including state-certified nursing assistant Tirhas Berkai.

“I got the job and it was very helpful. After learning LNA, I used the program again and got the job again,” Berkai said.

The Department of Economic Development views the program as a critical part of efforts to address Vermont’s labor shortage.

“There are about 17,000 job openings in the state of Vermont. The latest statistics show that for every unemployed Vermonter, there are two job openings,” said Commissioner Joan Goldstein. “So we really need people in the state and we also need employers to seek out these job seekers.”
