It’s been four long years since Arlo updated its floodlight camera. It’s currently 50% off—maybe on clearance. But I have good news, because the next version will offer homeowners two very handy improvements.
Assuming a continuation of the naming convention, the Arlo Pro 3 Wired The Floodlight Camera includes both positionable lights and a standard junction box mount to take advantage of existing infrastructure from garages and other lighting fixtures. While Arlo’s current (or older?) continuous recording add-on was somewhat, er, unique, it’s possible that the standard and continuous power of the new floodlight could lead to more integrated 24/7 recording. How The As pioneers of battery-powered smart cameras, it’s perhaps not surprising that it’s taken them this long to offer a hard-wired Arlo floodlight. But better late than never?
The new Arlo Floodlight also looks “normal” compared to the previous futuristic presentation… which not all homeowners will like. Given the size of the camera module and to keep costs in check, I believe Arlo will stick with 2K resolution for this update.
There is no word on pricing or release dates yet, but I expect it to be released before the holiday shopping season.
