Two new Halloween video games in the works from the studio behind “Evil Dead: The Game”

Michael Myers is coming to a gaming console near you soon, as it has been announced that there are not one, but two video games based on John Zimmermann‘S Halloween in the works by Boss Team Games. And the best part? The legendary director himself is involved in the project. The only video game based on Carpenter’s groundbreaking 1978 slasher film was released in 1983 for the Atari 2600, and while characters from the film appear in other franchises, such as Dead by daylightThere hasn’t been a truly independent game for over 40 years.




According to IGN, the Halloween Video games come from the makers of Evil Dead: The Gameone of which is being developed in Unreal Engine 5. It is said that the new games will allow players to “Relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time,” However, details remain under wraps for now. What is known is that Carpenter will be “closely involved” in at least one of the projects and will contribute his input. In a statement released by the director, he said he hopes to scare people “to death” with the release.

What can we expect from Halloween video games?

It is not yet known what kind of mechanics the Halloween video games, it can be assumed that they will follow in the same manner as the previous release from Boss Team Games, Evil Dead: The Game. The asymmetrical multiplayer game was released in 2022 and offered both co-op and PvP modes, allowing players to immerse themselves in the world created by Sam Raimi. It sold 500,000 copies and received mostly positive reviews, with many praising the graphics, atmosphere, and fluidity of the game, despite the frustrating lack of maps and – at times – difficult gameplay. In 2023, support for live content was discontinued, but the servers are currently still active.
