For those fans who can’t get enough of Kevin Harlan’s electrifying calls on big plays and legendary moments, CBS Sports just released an entertaining “Greatest Hits” video on YouTube.
And to make the video even more entertaining, Harlan is challenged to a game called “Name That Call” where he has to identify these calls.
This is a difficult task considering Harlan first says he has probably provided live commentary on more than 500 NFL Network games over the course of his career.
During the first highlight, a split second in the clip where he exclaimed, “Oh!”, Harlan had no idea.
“It could be any game,” he laughed.
“You’ve made that noise a few times,” joked the producer.
Harlan then got an easier decision: “He broke his ankles!”
Without hesitation, Harlan called the play and the play in which Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made a brilliant touchdown run.
“Lamar Jackson, as only he can, made this rushing run where he was dodging defenders and making cuts and slashes, and at one point … he just spun so fast that the guy just tripped over his own feet,” Harlan said.
For a man who has probably experienced many battles and skirmishes over the years, the next sentence may have seemed impossible: “Oh, we have a fight!”
Harlan predicted a Raiders vs. Chargers game. And it was a close one, it was the Raiders and the Broncos.
Harlan handled the challenge surprisingly well. He seemed to enjoy the reminiscing, and the eight-minute video is well worth watching for any football fan who enjoys listening to a legendary commentator call great plays.
