Writing project planned in downtown Norfolk | News

The Nebraska Writing Project is hosting a “Write On, Norfolk” event on Saturday, September 7, in downtown Norfolk.

It will be the first of four events this year organised by Write On, Norfolk.

On September 7, participants can explore the River Point Creative District during a writing marathon. This marathon is not about running, but about writing.

In its inaugural year, Write On, Norfolk partners with the River Point Creative District to expand the Nebraska Writing Project’s presence in northeast Nebraska.

The free event begins at 9 a.m. at Downtown Coffee Co., followed by the Writing Marathon where participants explore and write. Finally, all writers will meet again at 11:30 a.m. for an optional drink, snack, and reading session at District Table & Tap.

Registration is required. To register or just learn more about the event, visit the Nebraska Writing Project on Facebook or Instagram.

The partnership will host four events between September and May. At this first event, participants will explore, observe and be inspired by the art, food and shops of the River Point Creative District while stopping to write and connect with other writers.

Everyone is welcome to join in, have fun, discover and learn together, whether you are already an experienced writer or just starting out.

Hosted by the Nebraska Writing Project, part of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, these events aim to celebrate and encourage a love of writing in Nebraska communities.

The Nebraska Writing Project has been providing programs for teachers, students and community members throughout Nebraska since 1978.

It is a national network dedicated to teaching writing across all disciplines, grade levels and communities, with initiatives such as Write On, Norfolk providing opportunities for meaningful writing.
