Wake up, drive, eat: Türkiyes Bungalows offer breakfast on the go

Tourists staying in the wooden bungalows on the hillside of the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize in northern Turkey are treated to a unique breakfast experience. Guests wake up to a breakfast served to them in an unconventional way – they simply walk from the bed to the balcony where their meal awaits.

In the village of Meydanköy, tourism entrepreneur Ali Yıldız has found a creative solution to meet his guests’ breakfast needs. His bungalows, built of stone and wood, are nestled in the green hills and offer an intense nature experience. But it’s the breakfast delivery system that really stands out.

Each bed in the bungalows is equipped with wheels, chains and a motorized system powered by a battery. Upon waking, guests can move their bed from the room to the balcony using a remote control. Without leaving their bed, they arrive at a breakfast table set with local delicacies and can enjoy the meal against a backdrop of natural beauty. Visitors find the experience both fun and entertaining, often sharing videos of the novel setup on social media.

“We wanted to create something unique in Rize,” Yıldız explained. “Normally, breakfast is brought to the room, but we thought, why not bring the bed to the balcony for breakfast? The result is beautiful.”

Yıldız emphasized the importance of this new concept for regional tourism and added: “Our guests are very satisfied with their experience.”

He further explained the design of the bed: “Under the bed there is a battery, similar to a car mechanism with wheels, chains and a motor. On a single charge it runs for a few hours. We designed and built it ourselves. In Europe there are similar systems with rails, but we opted for wheels.”

Ghanaian tourist Yahya Abullai, who saw the whole thing on social media, was delighted. “I saw it online and was impressed, so I had to come. It’s a beautiful place with an amazing room. Normally they bring breakfast to bed, but here the bed comes to breakfast. I think this is a world first; it’s incredible.”
