STARKVILLE, Mississippi – The Writing Center – a campus resource dedicated to supporting writers of all levels – has moved to the second floor of Mississippi State’s Mitchell Memorial Library.

The center, supported by the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of English, held its grand opening on Monday (Aug. 26) in Room 2335 in the presence of MSU President Mark E. Keenum, staff from the Department of English and MSU Libraries.

“We want to provide all of our students with the resources they need to succeed, and the Writing Center and University Libraries are two of our most important resources when it comes to supporting student success,” Keenum said. “Having the Writing Center here in this central location on the Drill Field improves access and will help connect more students to everything else the Mitchell Memorial Library has to offer.”

Writing Center Director Loreeda Rios said the academic service offers individual sessions of 30 or 60 minutes at various locations and times online or in person.

“While our new location will enhance students’ campus experience, our redesigned space gives us more room to support MSU writers in a one-on-one environment,” she said. “We are excited to be in Michell Memorial Library and join the list of services offered here.”

The Writing Center helps students, faculty, and staff improve their writing skills and offers a range of services for academic, professional, or personal projects with individualized sessions. Appointments can be made through the online scheduling system at www.msstate.mywconline.com.

“The University Libraries are excited to partner with the MSU Writing Center to better serve the needs of students by creating a comprehensive, accessible and integrated central location for academic support in service of student success,” said Lis Pankl, Dean of Libraries. “At Mitchell Memorial Library, at the heart of MSU’s academic community, we foster an environment of community and growth by inviting partners to collaborate with us.”
