The Falcons open their season on Saturday

The Lackawanna College Falcons held an inter-team scrimmage on Sunday to prepare for the opening of a new season on Saturday.

This year’s team features an experienced group hoping to conquer a tough schedule.

Chris Campanelli, junior at Lackawanna College: “I feel like we are a more stable team than in other years. The cohesion. I have been here for five semesters now and this is the best group I have ever experienced.”

We have a solid defense. Our offense comes into play right away, but I feel like we’re going to be a solid team.”

Bob Ide aksk: Is there a lot of talent here from Division One?

Mark Duda, coach at Lackawanna College: “There are a lot. There are a lot, maybe 15 guys in his group, because the guys want to play football. Some are comebacks who played in the big leagues. I have a tailback who came back from Vanderbilt. I have a receiver, Carmelo Taylor, who came back from Penn State, OK, he was like a five-star kid from Virginia.”

Oh, we have a guy from Ohio named Marshall. Big, strong linebacker who could play anywhere in the country. So we have a lot of those guys. Plus we have guys who were here their first year who got super praise here. But our older guys have been through the program for years, lifting weights and training, and they just look a little different than the younger guys.

Lackawanna College opens the season at home against Jireh Prep on Saturday at 1 p.m.
