Fallout76the latest update, Milestone Zerois expected on 3 September 2024. Although it appears smaller compared to its epic predecessor, Skyline Valley, Milestone Zero is intended to introduce very practical new mechanics that should change the gameplay.
In addition to the introduction of a new season of content, Milestone Zero will include new quests with the Blue Ridge Caravan Company and the titular Milepost Zero – a new outpost populated by new traders. You’ll have to earn the services of these traders by taking on a series of escort and protection missions, but once you gain access to the outpost, your world will open up.

“There’s a Brahmin Tamer where you can spend supplies to upgrade your Brahmin. (There’s) also the Decorator, which lets you change the look and theme of the interior. (There’s) the Import Goods Merchant, where you can buy unique goods not found anywhere else in Appalachia. (And there’s) the Ammo Merchant, who sells ammo in bulk but can also unlock a quest for the V63 Laser Carbine and sell you mods for it.”

Each of these merchants will assist you in your missions across the Wasteland, providing you with plenty of goods and upgrades to help you progress and protect your newly acquired Brahmin.
Opening a new chapter with Milestone Zero
As a separate chapter Milestone Zero will be relatively independent of future updates – including those for Shimmering depths and the upcoming playable Ghoul content – but it was developed with its future potential in mind. Outpost, like all features of Fallout76were developed “very carefully” with insights from “knowledgeable team members” and “knowledge keepers” to “ensure accuracy” as the post-apocalypse rages on.
Every new Fallout76 Each update begins with extensive deliberation as the team thinks about the stories they want to tell in Appalachia, knowing that there are four major updates each year—and that they need to listen to player feedback along the way.
“Once we have a good idea of the story, we start to explore the kinds of features that will help us tell that story,” said LaCoste GamesHub of the development process. “What most people don’t know is that the main character of Fallout76 is actually Appalachia itself.”
“Our team is always listening to player feedback. If a piece of feedback fits well with a particular upcoming feature, we’ll have the team tackle it as part of their development… Our design and gameplay teams are also very up to date with current player feedback, and they’ll just incorporate it into their normal workflows as well.”
Has the success of Amazon’s Stand out redesigned Fallout76?
By listening to this feedback Fallout76 The development team is also aware of the rumors and excitement surrounding Amazon’s Stand out TV series and how Fallout76 has become a de facto home for fans of the series who want to delve deeper into this world.
While the team currently has no plans to introduce new companion content to meet this demand, LaCoste left open a possibility: “We are much earlier in time than the television series, (but) while there are currently no plans to make direct connections between the two, we never say never because the world is constantly evolving.”
At least the enthusiastic connoisseurs of Stand out TV series that play Fallout76 will have something big to look forward to in 2025: the opportunity to play as a ghoul. According to LaCoste, the increasing popularity of the series’ ghoul, played by Walton Goggins, and the timing of the Fallout76The announcement that a ghoul would be playable was just a nice coincidence.
“The funny thing is, we’ve wanted to play as Ghoul for a long time, so the release and the huge success of the TV show came at just the right time!” said LaCoste. “We’re really excited to see how our players use the Ghoul!”
Is now a good time to get into Fallout76?
With the arrival of quieter chapters Milestone Zeroand there is a lot of news for Shimmering depths and the playable Ghoul update, LaCoste believes now is the right time for new players to join Fallout76.
“They come at the right time,” LaCoste said of potential new players. “Even though it’s almost six years old, we’re just starting Fallout76and there are so many amazing features coming online this year and next year that will blow your mind.”
LaCoste added: Fallout76 has “the BEST community in all of gaming,” with extensive support for new players and robust systems for those who want to jump in even after six years.
We expect many beginner-friendly chapters to unfold in the game in the coming months, paving the way for extensive content updates through 2025.
