They said they would never do it, but you never say never when it comes to the wrestling industry: If recent hints from WWE are to be believed, New Day could be breaking up in the not too distant future. The company has dropped a few hints that Xavier Woods may not be as positive as it used to be, as a turnaround seems to be brewing. While those moments have been subtle, where there’s smoke there’s usually fire, and this week’s edition of Raw added some more fuel to the fire.

It’s rarely been mentioned in WWE, but there’s a fan theory online that says Karrion Kross’ rivalries cause his opponents to change their minds. We’ve seen numerous examples of this, such as AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Drew McIntyre becoming villains shortly after facing Kross.
For the past few months, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have been feuding with Karrion and his Final Testament, with Woods causing some tension. Although New Day has overcome Kross’ faction with some help, there is still a dark, ominous cloud hanging over the whole situation.
Xavier Woods doesn’t seem to like Odyssey Jones very much
It feels like Kofi Kingston just wants to replace Big E
- Big E has been missing for over 2 years due to a neck injury
- Odyssey Jones helped New Day at the behest of Kofi Kingston
- Xavier Woods doesn’t trust Odyssey Jones
Karrion Kross has attempted to drive a wedge between Woods and Kofi Kingston. Woods’ trust issues have become apparent, particularly with Odyssey Jones, who helped even the odds against The Final Testament when he was called upon for help by Kingston.
Woods didn’t seem to appreciate the help from Odyssey Jones and felt that Kofi was trying to replace injured New Day member Big E. Xavier even shared a clip on social media of Kevin Owens betraying the New Day in 2019, which illustrated his skepticism and suggested a deeper distrust among his peers.

Just before their two qualifying matches for the Intercontinental Championship #1 Contendership on Raw, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods shared a moment in the locker room. The camera made sure to focus on Woods’ ring attire, which matched Kofi’s… except it was black, unlike Kofi’s green.
Kofi mentioned it in passing, but Woods dismissed it by saying he wanted to add some of his own personal flair. New Day is known for always fitting in, from the unicorn colors to the Outsiders and Mortal Kombat-inspired gear. While it’s a small thing, it’s still a subtle hint that dark days are likely ahead, especially since both lost their qualifying matches.

Another important hint was dropped as Xavier Woods made his way to the ring for his IC Title Qualifying Match. Corey Graves clarified that Woods has never won a singles championship in WWE, which is not the case for his New Day brothers.
Both Big E and Kofi Kingston were WWE Champions as members of New Day and have won numerous titles as US and Intercontinental Champions. Woods, on the other hand, has only ever been a tag team champion and only with New Day. Sure, he won the King Of The Ring, but that didn’t give him a sustainable push into the singles division. Perhaps he’s finally tired of sharing the spotlight and wants to go it alone to claim singles gold.
